In 1901 the U.S. Lifesaving Service built the Lifesaving Station at Arena Cove. It was from here that resident "surfmen" launched their lifeboats during many daring sea rescues. This turn-of-the-century, oceanside residence is now a romantic bed and breakfast. The furnishings for the inn reflect the classic lines and directness of purpose which characterized the American Arts and Crafts period.
