Lummis Home (El Alisal) and GardenHighland Park, CA Built between 1898 and 1910 the Lummis Home was built by Charles Fletcher Lummis which he said he built "to last a thousand years." In many respects the Lummis Home represents the beginning of the Arts & Crafts aesthetic that was to soon take the architectural world by storm--only to peak with Greene and Greene homes such as the Gamble House. Martin HouseBuffalo, NY The Martin House Complex - Frank Lloyd Wright's 1904 masterwork is currently under restoration. All tours of the Complex are docent-led. Call (716)856-3858 for reservations. OngoingHollyhock House - 1921Los Angeles, CA Hollyhock House is Wright's first Los Angeles project. Built between 1919 and 1921, it represents his earliest efforts to develop a regionally appropriate style of architecture for Southern California. Wright himself referred to it as California Romanza, using a musical term meaning "freedom to make one's own form". OngoingDr. Roy Lanterman House TourLa Cañada Flintridge, CA In 1915, Dr. Roy Lanterman commissioned architect A. L. Haley to design a fireproof bungalow of reinforced concrete for his family and the result was a unique architectural treasure. There are many arts and crafts elements in the Lanterman house. It retains its exquisite original interiors and furnishings, including elaborate hand-painted wall and ceiling ornamentation. October 16-18, 2009Pasadena Heritage's Eighteenth Annual Craftsman WeekendPasadena, CA A tribute to Pasadena's unique contributions to the American Arts & Crafts Movement, Craftsman Weekend is the largest and most comprehensive celebration of the Craftsman Movement in the Western United States. BungalowFest Home and Garden Tour. December 5th, 2009Winnetka Heights Holiday Home TourDallas, TX The tour of homes will take place on Saturday, December 5th from 12pm to 7pm. Several distinct homes will be open for viewing. We'll also have a Silent Auction, a Showcase of vintage Model T Fords and more at Turner House. All proceeds benefit the continued beautification and safety within the Winnetka Heights neighborhood. October 6, 2009, through January 3, 2010A Spirit of Simplicity: American Arts and Crafts from the Two Red Roses FoundationPalm Beach, FL The most significant producers of Arts and Crafts furniture and metalware will be represented, including works by Gustav Stickley and his Craftsman Workshops, Elbert Hubbard and the Roycrofters, and the Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Colony. There will be beautifully colored woodblock prints by Arthur Wesley Dow and his followers. Also on display will be ceramic vases and decorative tiles by the Grueby Faience Co., Newcomb Pottery, Rookwood Pottery, and Van Briggle Pottery.
